The Evolution of Rapier

From Fabris to Thibault, led by Mosh Hewson

We welcome Mosh Hewson all the way from Australia for a one day workshop exploring the evolution of the 1600s rapier tradition from Fabris to Thibault!

This workshop will see fencers explore the evolution of various rapier systems beginning with the wide-stance and firm footed Italian systems of Fabris, Capoferro, and Agrippa before diving into the straight-legged and upright Dutch Thibault and Spanish Destreza systems. You won’t be asked to copy and mimic - you’ll be pushed to build, move, rethink, and make it mean something.

FEE: $30/members, $60/non-members
DATE & TIME:
Tuesday July 29th
TIME:
7pm-10pm, door opens 6pm

Mosh Hewson is a historical fencer & coach from the Fitzroy College of Arms in Melbourne, Australia. His approach to fencing is deeply eclectic in a sincere, and passionately deliberate way. Rapier sits at centre of his practice with a style that’s dainty, precise, and often too beautiful to be accidental.
