West End Swords is the latest evolution of Mississauga’s oldest fencing club. For over three decades, our coaches and community have been redefining what a fencing club can be and that begins with making fencing more accessible & welcoming for all ages and skill levels!
Beginner
Get started with fencing in our intro classes! Fencers of all ages will learn the basics of the sport in a fun and welcoming environment!
Recreational
After completing the intro program, fencers can continue to develop at their own pace with our recreational fencing classes!
Competitive
Looking to train for tournaments? Experienced fencers can push for the next level and join our growing competitive team.
Historical (HEMA)
Fencing Programs
Longsword (14-15th century)
Experience the medieval longsword! Fencers will learn the longsword tradition as defined by the German fencing master Johannes Liechtenauer. One part history lesson, one part workout!
Rapier (16th-17th century)
A symbol of the renaissance, popularized by The Princess Bride and The Three Musketeers, the rapier was both deadly and elegant. Fencers will explore different historical sources to master the art of the rapier!
Smallsword (18th century)
The smallsword is fast, nimble, and easy to pick up. Fencers will delve into the 18th century French duelling tradition that led to the popularity of fencing as the sport we know and love!

About the club
Our club was founded on the basic principle that anyone can fence and we embrace that way of thinking in everything we do.
It begins with teaching the passion for fencing first and foremost. It’s simple, fencing is an amazing sport, a fun hobby, a great workout, and an amazing way to make lifelong friends over a shared passion. Whether you want to train to compete, or fence for the fun of it, we welcome you!
With a coaching staff with over 4 decades of fencing experience and the best looking club in the GTA, we are one of a kind and would love to introduce you to the sport!
